Full-On Fidelity Club

My first visit to St. Louis was full of firsts. It was the first time I was persuaded to ride to the top of the Arch, where I experienced extreme nausea and claustrophobia as I peered out of a tiny window to view the expansive Mississippi River and St. Louis landscape. It was the first time I rode a Bird electric scooter, flying 13 MPH down Washington Avenue trying to catch a breeze with 90 percent humidity. It was my first time inside Busch Stadium where we had our Donor Event; the only thing missing was the Cardinals! And best of all, it was my first time at the Elks National Convention, where I was proud to celebrate the Elks’ first membership gain in 39 years.

If you were anywhere near the ENF Booth, you may have heard a bell toll. Over the weekend, we went #FullOnFidelityClub and signed up more than 60 Elks for our monthly giving program—honoring those who made their commitment by ringing the bell (as seen in the photo to the left) and passing out ENF swag bags (also in said photo).

Several Fidelity Club members were also inspired to increase their monthly donation after hearing Lou Sulsberger, then Chair of the ENF Board, share why he joined the ENF Fidelity Club at Opening Ceremonies. A Boatload of Scholars, a Busload of Clothes

By: Aditi V. Patel,  2019 Most Valuable Student scholar Last week, I had the pleasure of serving alongside 20 other amazing Elks scholars as a part of the Tampa Elks Scholar Service Trip. I did my research before the trip and found that Hurricane Ian had displaced more than 40,000 Floridians in September 2022—I wanted to do something to help! After landing in Tampa, we got right to work by sorting a busload (literally) of clothing that Tampa, Fla., Lodge No. 708 collected from the community for Greater Pine Island. We organized each item of clothing by size, made sure each item was in good condition, and placed them into bags. Whenever there weren’t clothes at my table, I would shift to another station to help others, and I saw other scholars doing the same. It was amazing to see everyone laboriously working for hours without any complaints, learning names and fun facts as we went.
